Concert Week Schedule

Here is everything that you ever wanted to know about Celebration IX Concert Week
In a nutshell: 

1. We can all park under the Conference Center except for Sept 19 
2.  On Sept 19 everyone should park as directed on the parking pass they will receive with their tickets.  *Parents should purchase early to be guaranteed a parking pass.
3.  On Sept 19 teachers can park under the Conference Center.  They will need a pass to enter after 3:00.
4. Students should always arrive 30 minutes for their scheduled rehearsal. This means they should be in the theater or auditorium 30 minutes prior.  (Not in the parking lot)
5. Teachers should always arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled rehearsal.
6. Piano students and teachers enter through door 5 & 6 for Gala practices.  For Theater rehearsals,  they should enter through Door 1,2, and 3.
7.  All (registered) piano students are invited to sing in the all instrument numbers

Here is a detailed schedule. Please read it thoroughly, mark your calendars, and keep your students up to date. 

Sept 12: All-Intrument Rehearsal

All pianos students and teachers need to attend the All Instrument Rehearsal from 12:30 -1;30  in the conference Center Auditorium.  We will be rehearsing "Thank You Dr.Suzuki", "Where Love is Deep", and "Twinkle".

Everyone should arrive 30 minutes prior (12:00), except flag bearers who will rehearse at 12:00 and should arrive at 11:30

Everyone can park under the conference center and the piano students and teachers will enter at doors 5 and 6.  Parents can also drop students off at the curb and students can enter at door 5 & 6.  We will have volunteers stationed at the curb and at door 5 & 6 to help direct students who may be dropped off.

Accompanists: If your group is accompanying any of the All-Instrument Numbers, please make sure that they can attend this rehearsal.  This is one of two chances that they will have to rehearse with the orchestra.

Sept 15 and 16: Individual Group Rehearsals

All five piano groups who requested a rehearsal spot have a time reserved to rehearse in the Little Theater. 

You can park under the conference center.  Please enter through door 1,2, and 3.

Arrive in the Theater 30 minutes before your scheduled practice time.  Allow plenty of time for traffic, plus parking and re-entering the bldg. 

The 30 minutes early arrival is important.  During this time you will be given instructions on where to sit, how to walk on stage, and how to bow. You will also be asked to stay after your rehearsal for a brief singing rehearsal.  Probably ten minutes.  Fifteen at the most.

This rehearsal time is for getting a feel for the theater and the new pianos.  You will not have extensive time for fixing problems, so please take care of details before this rehearsal.

No seaters will be available for Tues/Wed rehearsals, so teachers and parents will need to take care of this. 

Sept 17: Dress Rehearsal

Dress Rehearsal begins at 7:00.  Students should arrive at 6:00 to measured for seating.  They should go immediately to the stage and get in line at the appropriate piano.  Please make sure that they know which piano they will be playing at. 
Seaters should arrive at 5:45. 
We can all park under the conference center and enter through door 1, 2, and 3.
Please wear concert dress including shoes: Dress is semi-formal to formal.
The Concert is expected to last one hour and ten minutes.  Dress Rehearsal may last a little longer, because we may need to stop and start.  Plan to stay until 8:30, but we may finish early.

Sept 18: Five Piano Concert

  • Our concert begins at 7:00. 
  • Students should be in their seats at 6:40. 
  • Chaperones should be in their seats at 6:35.
  • Seaters should be in their places by 6:40.
  • Dress is semi-formal to formal.  Sunday dress is requested of audience members.  All audience members will need a ticket, including chaperones.
  • We can all park under the Conference Center and enter through doors 1, 2, and 3.

Sept 19:  Rehearsals and Concert

On Sept 19 parents should park in the area indicated on their parking pass which will come with their ticket.  They are welcome to drop kids off at the conference center before parking for rehearsals.  They are welcome to attend the rehearsals.

Teachers can park under the conference center on Sept 19, and they will need a pass if they leave the parking area and re-enter after 3:00.  You can get a pass from Connie or me on that day.
Piano Rehearsal Sept 12: 2:00 to 2:30 in the Conference Center Auditorium This is for groups playing in the piano 7 minutes: Goodbye to Winter (Davis), Arietta, Wild Rider (SL), Limpid Stream, Waltz, and Gershwin groups. 
Please be in the Auditorium 30 minutes early. 

All Instrument Rehearsal: 4:00 to 5:30  All piano students and teachers need to be at this rehearsal.  This is for Twinkle, Thank You Dr. Suzuki, and Where Love is Deep.  Please be in the auditorium 30 minutes early.

Flag Bearers:  Flag Bearers will rehearse at 3:30 and should meet by the fountain at 3:00.
Students and Teachers should come in their concert clothes as there will not be time to change.  They should also bring a sack lunch as there will not be time to leave the bldg. for dinner.  They will be assigned a meeting place and an eating area. After eating they will clean up their area, and return to their seats in the auditorium.

Concert Dress for the Gala only: White shirts or blouses, black pants or skirts, black shoes, black socks or tights.  Teachers should wear all black.

Sack Lunch:  All packaging should be disposable.  Plain water to drink.  Avoid sticky or messy foods.

Concert: The concert begins at 7:00.  Students and Teachers should be in their seats by 6:40.  Teachers will sit with the students

Children 5 and under should have a parent sitting with them at the Gala concert and at the Gala rehearsals.
